SWIMWEAR SIZE GUIDES & COMPETITION SWIMSUIT SIZING

Choosing the correct competition swimsuit sizing online can be pretty daunting if you’ve never done it before. All our swimwear brands have their own size guides, so please consult these and don’t just guess your size or base your size choice on a different brand you have previously bought. Don’t base your choice on the clothes size you wear or the costume you have had for the last two years! It’s best to get your tape measure out and measure yourself properly.
Remember a swimsuit should fit close to the skin and hold you in place but also allow for a range of movement in your shoulders and hips.

Taking accurate body measurements is key to the perfect fitting swimwear. So here goes…. make sure you stand up straight! When you’re measuring your bust take the measurement over the fullest part and that’s the same for your hips. But when it comes to your waist make sure you measure the narrowest part of your waistline.

It’s best to ask a friend for help so you can make sure you are not bending over.  For accuracy, take the measurements in your underwear.

COMPETITION SWIMSUIT SIZING: FITTING YOUR RACE SUIT

Because of all the years of technology and high quality materials that go into a tech suit, they are a lot more expensive than your traditional training costume. Don’t be tempted to buy yourself a bigger size than your measurements show as it defeats the principle of the tech suit. When choosing your race suit its very important that you measure yourself correctly and follow the size guide information for the specific brand you are looking to buy.
If you want to measure for your race suit take the same measurements as you would for your swimwear but also add your body loop measurement, starting from the highest point of the shoulder, loop under the crotch and back up to the starting point. Hip measurements are most important when sizing for a race suit.

CARE OF YOUR RACE SUIT

The higher the compression, the more difficult the race suit is to get on, remember it can take up to 20 minutes to get into your race suit. The suit is going to feel tight so don’t panic if it feels restrictive.
While not easily measurable wearing the correct fitting tech suit can give you the mental edge, making you feel stronger and faster. Remember, tech suits don’t last for ever and they will lose some of their compression and hydrophobic qualities. Tech suits are recommended to last between 10 and 12 swim meets, so need looking after. You should always rinse your suit with clean water after use and let it air dry naturally, don’t leave it in the bottom of your swim bag!
