WHAT IS SURF RESCUE?
The sport of Surf Rescue, Sauvetage Sportive, Beach Rescue or Reddende Zwemmen is an exciting beach, ocean and pool-based sport that tests the athletic ability of lifesavers in an intense, highly competitive sporting context. The ultimate objective of the sport is to hone the skills of the athlete to be best prepared to save a life in the water. With a huge emphasis on drowning prevention, water safety and protection of the public in aquatic spaces, Surf Rescue is now an international sport that is recognised by the International Olympic Committee and Commonwealth Games Federation.
